Antique Leather Travel Trunk with Domed Lid

A fine antique travel trunk clad in brown leather, distinguished by its imposing domed lid and exceptionally sturdy construction.

The structure is reinforced with numerous wooden slats, metal bands, and brass fittings. Two long leather straps encircle the trunk, complementing the central locking mechanism.

The original leather carrying handles remain on the sides.

The front features a substantial central brass lock, while an oval plaque engraved with the name "William Ottinger" remains on one side. This detail offers an interesting glimpse into the luggage's personal history, even though the original owner cannot be identified with certainty today.

The leather boasts a beautiful patina, featuring the characteristic shades and marks of antique luggage that has retained its authentic character. The trunk has been restored in our workshop with a focus on preserving its original materials and appearance as much as possible. The interior has been completely refurbished in a light, understated tone, making it clean and functional for modern use. With its proportions and robust reinforcement, this trunk serves as both a collector's item and a striking decorative piece—suitable as a side table, a storage chest, or a focal point in a distinctive interior.
