LA MALLE EN COIN is the website of the company REVE DE BAGAGES.
Behind the company is a couple with a great passion for old trunks, know-how, luggage restoration and custom-making.
As we went along, we got specialized in luxury trunks, particularly in the following brands:
- Louis Vuitton
- Goyard
- Moynat Paris
And other brands like : Lavolaille, Hartmann, Oshkosh
We also developed a passion for trunk makers’ history.
Thus we have built a collection of luggage which is to date the largest one in Europe.
Since 2011, that collection can be seen at the MUSEE DU BAGAGE, whose management is totally attributed to the City of Haguenau.
Over the years, we have become keen on history.
We also collect posters, documents and old luggage parts.
Thus, we have published:
- A book on entry-level trunk restoration, published by Eyrolles Editions
- A buying guide for luxury trunks

The Louis Vuitton trunk-bed is exhibited in Amsterdam
We are very happy to announce that the Louis Vuitton trunk bed has been loaned to the Stedelijkk Museum in Amsterdam.
The Gold Medal of Honor from the Chamber of Trades

The Salesman travel case : what a funny story !
The trunk of the representative is called a marmot in French. "Marmotte "is a term that covers all the luggage of professionals for the transport of samples, a salesman travel case.
And here is his story:
To attract the curious, the Savoyard street vendors were accompanied by a tame marmot they carried in a "marmot box". The Savoyard and his marmot were popular figures of the Parisian street, represented by many engravings.
By extension, from the beginning of the nineteenth century, we called "marmot" all trunks, boxes and suitcases, salesman travel case intended for street vending.
Even today, each traveling salesman has a "marmot", adapted to his samples and custom-designed. There are still companies specializing in the manufacture of these trunks.
From hawker to business traveler ...
From 1870, the economic rationalization, the appearance and the development of the samples, the possibility to manage newly the flows thanks to the railroad transforms the hawker in
