Curved cabin trunk with crossed slats
• With its structure in poplar, covered with canvas and beech slats
• The interior has been refurbished
• FYI, a hasp is missing on the right
The cabin trunk was designed to go under the bed of the cabin of the liner. Thus, it was easily accessible: by pulling on the front handle, you retrieved the trunk from above the bed, to access your belongings. Its height was standardized, to be sure to fit well under the bed
The arched trunk has its history in Alsace, Germany and Eastern Europe. The wood was bent in the oven: heat and water vapor made it possible to bend the wood, like the Thonay chairs, for example.
