Monogrammed stencil canvas was made from 1904 on the basis of a coated canvas. The background in brown is completed, by hand, with the drawings of the monogram. The monogram was created in the Louis Vuitton company, to differentiate itself from other trunk makers, in 1896. Click here for history of the brand Louis Vuitton
Starting from the tiling of the bathroom of the family house in Asnières (near Paris, France), the monogram is created by adding the initials LV. The design is then applied to the canvas, with a stencil where each acronym is created using a brush with hard bristles. Imagine the working time that this can generate for the surface of the canvas of a trunk ... And the irregularities come from the work by hand, and this is what makes all the charm of the stencil monogram.
This trunk is ideal at the end of the bed or coffee table
